Rulo Window Coverings — Technical Specification
Technical specification — Pleated blinds
1. Pleated blind fabric ranges
Single-layer semi-blackout fabric
Description: The fabric provides privacy and blocks direct sunlight, but still lets daylight into the room. Suitable for offices, living rooms and hallways where a full blackout effect isn’t required. The outer/back side has a silver coating that helps regulate temperature and reflects heat back. With single-layer fabrics, the cords and cord holes remain visible.
The shade of a single-layer semi-blackout pleated fabric may change depending on the light falling on it. When it’s dark outside the fabric appears darker; when it’s bright outside it appears lighter.
Material: Polyester
Depends on fabric tone:
transmittance: 11–31%
reflectance: 28–67%
absorbance: 2–61%
Fold height:

The fabric is not waterproof! Clean with a damp cloth. Dust can also be removed with a vacuum cleaner using a textile/upholstery nozzle.
Single-layer moisture‑resistant fabric
Description: Provides privacy while letting daylight through. Well suited for more humid rooms like bathrooms or sauna anterooms where a blackout effect is not needed. The fabric has a moisture‑resistant finish, but it is not waterproof! If water gets on the fabric, dry it immediately and leave the blind folded for 24 hours to dry.
- With single‑layer fabrics, the cords and cord holes remain visible.
The shade of a single-layer pleated fabric colour may change depending on the light falling on it. When it is dark outside the tone is darker; during daylight it appears lighter.
Material: Polyester
Depends on fabric tone:
transmittance: 22–52%
reflectance: 18–47%
absorbance: 1–60%

The fabric is not waterproof! Can be cleaned with a damp cloth or Rulo Stain Remover. Dust can also be removed with a vacuum cleaner using a textile nozzle.
Honeycomb pleated blind fabric
Description: The fabric diffuses harsh sunlight but still lets daylight through. Suitable for offices, living rooms and hallways where a blackout effect isn’t required. The fabric consists of two layers with the cords running between them. Visually more elegant than single‑layer pleated fabrics. The double fabric helps regulate the room temperature and gives minor sound insulation. There is no dedicated reflective (heat/light) layer. The glass‑side (back) of the fabric is crisp white.
Material: Polyester
Depends on fabric tone:
transmittance: 19–40%
reflectance: 39–49%
absorbance: 12–38%
Fold height:

The fabric is not waterproof! Can be cleaned with a damp cloth or Rulo Stain Remover. Dust can also be removed with a vacuum cleaner using a textile nozzle.
Honeycomb blackout fabric
Description: Honeycomb pleated fabric is double‑layer and fully blackout. While the tone of a semi-blackout fabric changes with transmitted light, the tone of a blackout fabric depends on the room light. The room‑side is colored and the glass‑side is white (reflects heat and light). There is a foil‑like reflective layer between the two fabric layers that dampens sound and helps maintain the indoor temperature.
There must be adequate air circulation between the window and the window covering. Therefore, Rulo does not recommend installing blackout pleated blinds onto the glazing bead; install them on the window frame instead.

reflectance: 67%
absorbance: 33%

3. Tightening the pleated cords
Tightening the pleated blind cords:
If the blind moves stiffly in front of the window, you can loosen the knots near the spare cord ends and tie new knots 5–10 mm away from the old knot (the cords will be slightly longer).
If the blind doesn’t stay in position and slides down, you can tighten the cords by tying new knots 5–10 mm closer than the old knot (the cords will be slightly shorter).
- Push the blind together in front of the window and detach one cord‑end fitting from the bracket while holding it firmly (it’s easier to do this at the bottom brackets).
- Then slide the cord‑end fitting away from the knot and tie a new knot 5–10 mm above the old knot.
NB! Be careful that the cord does not slip out of the fitting and disappear into the fabric. If that happens, the blind must be sent in for repair.
NB! It’s important to tie the new knot at the same height on both sides.

3.1 Several pleated blinds side by side on one window
If the window opening exceeds the maximum manufacturing width for a pleated blind, we can produce two adjacent blinds to cover the opening.
We manufacture the blinds the same width including profiles, which allows installing them very close to each other. The gap between two blinds remains minimal.
From an opening width over 1250 mm, we recommend ordering frame‑mount brackets and installing two pleated blinds side by side.

Technical specification — Curtain rails
1. Curtain rail material
Description: Custom‑size curtain rails are a convenient alternative to DIY store rails that you have to cut yourself. Profiles are available for both lighter and heavier curtains.
Material: 100% aluminum
2. Curtain rail mechanism, profiles and parts
Mechanism: The curtain attaches to hooks that run on sliders. Sliders are moved by hand; there is no corded system. Sliders and hooks are removable from the rail, and you can add more as needed — the rail’s end cap is removable.

- Curtain hooks, sliders and end caps are plastic
2.1 Mount type — ceiling mount
Ceiling mount:
-
Straight
-
Ends curved toward the wall
If you want two rows of rails in front of one window, the recommended spacing is 10 cm: the first rail 10 cm from the wall and the second rail 10 cm from the first (20 cm from the wall).
NB! Curvature is available only with ceiling mounts! Not available for 28 mm round, 600 or 630‑C profiles!
Ceiling‑mount parts match the color of the rail.
A rail set (per total rail length) includes ceiling brackets with screws and plugs plus curtain hooks (15 pcs per meter).
NB! The included screws and plugs are intended for concrete ceilings/walls. If your ceiling/wall is another material, you will need appropriate fasteners.
Ceiling bracket dimensions:
- Width 15 mm
- Length 40 mm
2.2 Mount type — wall mount
Wall mount:
- Straight
Wall‑bracket lengths:
U and VS profile:
- 50–150 mm accommodates one row of rails
- 200–250 mm accommodates two rows of rails
28 mm round profile:
- 100 mm accommodates one row of rails
- 150–200 mm accommodates two rows of rails
600 and 630‑C profile:
- 100 mm accommodates one row of rails
- 150 mm accommodates two rows of rails
NB! If you want to order two rows of rails on a single wall bracket, select the length for one rail, and for the second choose “do not want”. This way you can mount both rails on one bracket set.
Wall‑mount parts match the colour of the rail.
A rail set (per total rail length) includes wall brackets with screws and plugs plus curtain hooks (15 pcs per meter).
NB! The included screws and plugs are intended for concrete ceilings/walls. If your ceiling/wall is another material, you will need appropriate fasteners.
2.3 Rail curvature
- With ceiling‑mounted rails you can order ends with curvature. You can have the curvature on one or both ends.
- Curvature is not available for wall‑mounted rails.
- The curvature bends toward the wall.
- We do not offer acute corner solutions for corner windows.
- Curvature is available for the following profiles: U profile, VS profile.
- Curvature is not available for the 28 mm round profile, 600 profile or 630‑C profile.
- Curvature length can be 100–250 mm, which also corresponds to the distance from the wall.
Example: Total rail length is 2000 mm; curvature on both ends of 100 mm means the curvature lengths are included within the total.
Illustration:
NB! The end of the curvature may not always be cut perfectly square to the wall because the rail‑bending machine has a 15 cm working radius.
Two rows of rails in front of one window, with curved ends on one rail:
The outer rail, for side curtains, has curved ends; the inner rail, for sheer tulle curtains, is straight.
Calculating total lengths:
- If the outer rail has one curved end, the inner straight rail is 5 cm shorter than the outer rail.
- If the outer rail has two curved ends, the inner straight rail is 10 cm shorter than the outer rail.
2.4 Profiles
We offer curtain rails with five profile types:
– U profile: 15 mm wide × 10 mm high
Colours: white, aluminum, matte gold, antique gold, black
– VS profile: 20 mm wide × 14 mm high
Colours: white, silver, matte gold, black
– 28 mm round profile: 28 mm diameter

– 630‑C profile: 17 mm wide × 40 mm high
Colours: matte silver, champagne, antique gold, black
– 600 profile: 16 mm wide × 40 mm high
Colours: matte silver, champagne, antique gold, black
Curtain hooks (15 pcs per meter):
- white
- black
3. Manufacturing specifics
Maximum rail length is 6000 mm.
From 3001 mm upward, we produce the rail in two equal parts. A rail connector is included.
The curtain may catch slightly at the connector when moving past it, but you can pull it over the joint. We cut the rail exactly in the middle so that the joint interferes as little as possible.
NB! If you have also ordered installation, two‑part rails are counted as two products for installation purposes.
Number of brackets by rail length:
For both ceiling and wall mounts, approximately one bracket per ~70 cm.
The recommended bracket spacing is about 70 cm, but depends on total rail length and installation specifics. We recommend dividing the included number of brackets by the total rail length before installation to plan spacing.
