Specifications of Rulo Window Coverings
Technical specification of Pleated blinds

1. Fabric collections for Pleated blinds
Single-layer semi-blackout fabric
Description: The fabric blocks out harsh sunlight while allowing natural daylight to pass through. It is well-suited for spaces like offices, living rooms, and hallways where blackout is not required. The outer/back side of the fabric has a silver reflective coating that helps regulate temperature. With a single-layer fabric pleated blind, the cords and cord holes remain visible.
The shade of a single-layer semi-blackout pleated blind fabric may change depending on the light behind it. When it’s dark outside, the fabric appears darker; when it’s bright outside, the fabric looks lighter.
Material: Polyester
Depending on the fabric color:
Transmittance: 11–31%
Reflectance: 28–67%
Absorption: 2–61%
Pleat height:

For more detailed information, feel free to contact us at info@rulo.ee.

The fabric is not waterproof! It can be cleaned with a damp cloth or Rulo Stain Remover. Dust can also be removed using a vacuum cleaner with a textile nozzle.
Order a fabric sample to ensure the material suits your needs.
NB! Please note that the sample piece and the ordered pleated blinds may not come from the same fabric batch, meaning slight color differences are possible. The same applies when ordering window coverings from the same fabric at different times for the same room.
Single-layer semi-blackout moisture-resistant fabric
Description: The fabric blocks harsh sunlight while allowing daylight to pass through. It is well suited for humid rooms such as bathrooms or sauna anterooms where blackout effect is not required. The fabric is treated with a moisture-resistant coating but is not waterproof! If the fabric gets wet, it should be dried immediately and the blind should be left folded for 24 hours to dry. On single-layer blinds, the cords and cord holes remain visible.
The color of the single-layer semi-blackout pleated blind fabric may change depending on the light coming through from behind. When it is dark outside, the color appears darker; when it is bright outside, the color appears lighter.
Material: Polyester
Depending on the fabric color:
Transmittance: 22-52%
Reflectance: 18-47%
Absorbance: 1-60%
Pleat height:

Two-layer double-fabric semi-blackout fabric
Description: The fabric blocks harsh sunlight while allowing daylight to pass through. It is well suited for offices, living rooms, and hallways where blackout effect is not needed. The fabric consists of two layers, with the pleated blind cords sandwiched between them. Visually, it is more aesthetically pleasing than a single-layer fabric pleated blind. The double-layer fabric helps regulate room temperature and also provides some degree of sound insulation. It does not have a light/heat reflective coating or backing. The glass-side (back) of the fabric is bright white.
Material: Polyester
Depending on the fabric color:
Transmittance: 19-40%
Reflectance: 39-49%
Absorption: 12-38%

Two-layer blackout fabric
Description: The fabric is two-layered and 100% blackout. While the shade of semi-transparent fabric changes depending on the amount of transmitted light, the blackout fabric’s shade remains constant. The room-facing side of the fabric is colored, and the glass-facing side is bright white. Between the two fabric layers, there is a foil-like light-reflective layer that prevents external heat from entering the room and indoor heat from escaping through the window. It also provides slight sound insulation..
It is important to note that even though the fabric is 100% blackout, this does not mean you can effectively build a wall in front of your window opening with the product. While blackout fabric blocks light from passing through, minimal light can still be seen through gaps between the window covering’s parts and mechanisms. Optimal air circulation between the window and the covering must be ensured. For this reason, Rulo does not recommend installing blackout pleated blinds on the glass bead, but rather on the window frame. No Rulo window covering can guarantee 100% blackout effect inside the room! However, a window covering with blackout fabric provides sufficient darkening to ensure the best possible quality of sleep.

2.1 Frame mounting

Dimensions: width 25 mm x height 10 mm x depth 21 mm

Colors: white, dark brown, anthracite gray.

2.2 Glass mounting
Pleated blind mounting on glazing bead:

Dimensions: width 25 mm x depth 12 mm

Colors: white, dark brown, anthracite grey.

NB! A pleated blind can only be mounted on the glazing bead if the glazing bead depth (D1) is at least 15 mm without the seal at the edge of the glass! The glazing bead must not be curved or steeply angled – this can be easily checked at home.
If the glazing bead does not meet any of the above criteria, the pleated blinds can only be mounted on the window frame!

2.3 Profiles
Standard profile for pleated blinds:
Dimensions: height 19 mm, depth 13 mm
Colors: white, dark brown, anthracite gray.

2.4 Operating rod
Pleated blind operating rod, which allows you to operate pleated blinds on windows that are positioned higher up or further away.
Length: 120 cm
Material: aluminum
Color: available in white only

3. Production features
Number of cords/cord holes in the pleated blind:

Cords and cord holes are visible on single-layer fabrics, while in double-layer fabrics they are hidden between the fabric layers.
Sample images of single-layer semi-blackout fabric showing visible cords and cord holes.

Height of the folded curtain:

The heights shown in the illustration are for reference only and may vary depending on the fabric type.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at info@rulo.ee.
Pleated Blind Cord Tensioning:
The pleated blind cords are tensioned correctly during production according to the window height. However, sometimes you need to tighten the cords yourself to achieve a perfect result. If the pleated blind sags down on its own and does not stay in the desired position, the cords need to be tightened. The following guide will explain the process step-by-step.
STEP 1. Push the blind together in front of the window and remove one cord end piece from the clip by firmly holding it yourself (it’s easier to do this from the lower fastenings)..
STEP 2. Then, push the cord end piece slightly away from the knot and tie a new knot on the cord about 1 cm above the old knot.
Note: Be careful not to let the cord come loose from the end piece or slip into the fabric. If that happens, the blind will need to be sent back to production for repair. It is important that you tie the new knot at the same height on both sides..

STEP 3. Pull the cord end piece back to its original position, making sure the knot is securely held between the plastic parts. Repeat the same process on the other side. Then, check the movement of the blind by operating the handle. If the blind still seems to slip down, repeat the process and tie a new knot about 1 cm above the previous one.
Also, check out the video tutorial on how to tighten the cords of your pleated blinds.

3.1 Several pleated blinds side by side in front of one glass opening
The pleated blind is manufactured according to minimum and maximum production dimensions, which vary depending on the fabric.
If the window exceeds the maximum production width of the pleated blind, we can offer two pleated blinds installed side by side for wider windows.
We make the curtains as wide as the fabric profiles, allowing the pleated blinds to be installed very close to each other. The gap between the two blinds is minimal — just a few millimeters.

We do not recommend ordering pleated blinds wider than the maximum production width because the blind’s profile may start to bend under the weight of the fabric, especially with double-layered fabrics. The top profile can sag in the middle, causing the blind to no longer stay raised, and the bottom profile may also bend due to the tension of the cords.
Deflection cannot be repaired or eliminated.
Starting from a width of 1250 mm, bending of the profile must be taken into account. For wide and tall windows, we recommend frame-mounted brackets.
We review each customer’s request individually, so if your window exceeds the maximum dimensions – please don’t hesitate to write to us at info@rulo.ee! We’ll find the best solution for you!
4. Pleated blind for roof window
The roof window pleated blind is operated using a handle, allowing movement from top to bottom and bottom to top. It is a four-profile model, with the top and bottom profiles fixed in place, and side cords (wires) ensuring the blind stays securely in position.

Roof window pleated blinds can be ordered with any of the pleated fabric collections available in our product range.
Profile colours: white, dark brown, anthracite grey
Height of the folded roof window blind:

The heights shown in the illustration are for informational purposes and may vary depending on the fabric type.
High-positioned pleated blinds can be operated using an operating rod!

Technical specification of Cassette blinds

1. Fabric collections for Cassette blinds
Semi-blackout fabric
Description: The fabric blocks harsh sunlight but allows natural daylight to pass through. It ensures the necessary privacy, as it is not see-through. Suitable for rooms where a blackout effect is not required.
The outer/glass-side of the fabric is the same color as the room-side. There is no light or heat-reflective backing.
Material: 100% polyester
Our window coverings are designed for use in rooms with normal indoor temperatures to avoid issues caused by excess moisture.
If the roller blind fabric gets wet due to condensation forming on the glass, we recommend leaving about 2 cm of space at the bottom of the blind to allow air circulation between the fabric and the glass, preventing moisture damage and mold.
If the roller blind fabric freezes to the glass, carefully detach it from the glass and let it dry before rolling the blind up again.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at info@rulo.ee!

Can be cleaned with a damp cloth or Rulo Stain Remover. Dust can also be removed using a vacuum cleaner with a textile nozzle.
Order a fabric sample to ensure the material suits your needs.
NB! Please note that the sample piece and the ordered blinds may not be from the same fabric batch, which means slight color differences may occur. The same applies when ordering window coverings from the same fabric at different times for the same room.
Blackout fabric
Description: The fabric is 100% light-blocking. It is well-suited for bedrooms, as a dark room helps ensure high-quality sleep.
Some colors have the same shade on both the outer/glass side and the room side of the fabric, while others have a white outer/glass side (please inquire if interested at info@rulo.ee). There is no light or heat-reflective backing.
Material: 100% polyester
It is important to note that even if the fabric is 100% blackout, it does not mean you can build a wall in front of your window opening with this product. While blackout fabric blocks light completely, a minimal amount of light can still be seen through the gaps between the window covering’s details and mechanisms. Proper airflow between the window and the covering must be ensured. No Rulo window covering guarantees 100% blackout effect in the room! However, window coverings with blackout fabric provide sufficient darkening to ensure a high-quality sleep environment.

-C side profiles: H1 measurement – 50 mm
-Total cassette blind width including end caps: L1 measurement + 20 mm
Cassette blind with flat side profiles
Dimensions:
-Fabric height: H1 measurement + 150 mm
-Fabric width: L2 measurement – 2 mm
-Cassette curve: L1 measurement – 28 mm
-Tube: L1 measurement – 28 mm
-Fabric bottom weight bar: L2 measurement – 4 mm
-Flat side profiles: H1 measurement – 68 mm
NB! The fabric height overlap added during production is necessary to ensure that, when the window covering is fully opened, there is enough fabric remaining on the tube (2–3 rotations). If the fabric is unrolled completely from the tube, it will fall off and must be replaced with a new one.
For the installation of side profiles, the glazing bead must have at least 10 mm of flat surface. If the glazing bead is curved, textured, or at a sharp angle, add 8+8 mm to the L1 measurement. You must also ensure there is enough space on the window frame up to the handle for this installation.

3. Production features
The width measurement entered in the online store is the fabric width; fittings are added on top of this (28 mm on the chain side, 20 mm on the non-chain side).
The customer adds the desired overlap to the width, and the necessary overlap for the height is added by production.
In the offer, L1 refers to the fabric width measurement, and H1 refers to the customer’s window opening height measurement (the measurement does not include the overlap added by production).
Dimensions:
-Fabric height: H1+250 mm
-Fabric width: L1
– Tube width: L1+10 mm (5mm wider on both sides than fabric)
-Fabric bottom edge strip width: L1 + 6 mm
NB! The fabric height overlap added during production is necessary to ensure that, when the window covering is fully opened, there is enough fabric remaining on the tube (2–3 rotations). If the fabric is unrolled completely from the tube, it will fall off and must be replaced with a new one.
Several Classic blinds side by side in front of one glass opening
All window coverings, including Classic blinds, have maximum production size limits.
If the window opening exceeds the maximum production width, it is possible to cover the opening with two or more Classic blinds side by side.
However, in this case, keep in mind that there will be approximately a 5 cm light gap between the blinds due to the mounting brackets. If you choose blackout fabric, this gap will significantly reduce the overall blackout effect.

The Venetian blinds in our product range have the lift cord (for moving the slats up and down) on the right side, and the tilt cords (for adjusting the slat angle) on the left side. Customers cannot choose or change the side of the cords.

Technical specification of Curtain rails

1. Material of Curtain rails
Description: Custom-sized curtain rails that are simple and affordable for anyone to install. There are profiles to suit every taste and accommodate curtains of different weights—everyone can find their perfect match!
Material: 100% aluminum

The image shows a sample cross-section of the VS profile. Cross-sections vary depending on the profile.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at info@rulo.ee!
2. Curtain rail mechanism, profiles, and details
Curtain rail mechanism: the fabric attaches to hooks that slide along gliders. The gliders are manually operated; this is not a cord-operated system. The gliders and fabric hooks can be removed from the rail, and additional ones can be added if desired — the end cap of the rail is removable.
Curtain rail profiles/details:
-Curtain rail profile and ceiling/wall mounts are made of aluminum
-Fabric hooks, gliders, and end caps are made of plastic

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at info@rulo.ee!
2.1 Mounting type – Ceiling
Ceiling mount:
-straight
-curved outward at the ends (towards the wall)

If you wish to install two rows of curtain rails in front of one window, the recommended distance between the rails is 10 cm — meaning the first rail should be installed 10 cm from the wall and the second rail 10 cm from the first one. However, the exact distance between the rails may depend on the curtain fabric, the fullness of the pleats, etc. In this regard, we recommend consulting with a curtain specialist.
NB! Curvature is only available for the ceiling mount option! It cannot be selected for the 28 mm round, 600, or 630-C profiles.
The ceiling mount components are the same color as the curtain rail.
The curtain rail set (based on the total rail length) includes ceiling mounts with screws and wall plugs, as well as curtain hooks (15 pcs per meter).
NB! The screws and wall plugs included in the set are intended for installation into concrete ceilings/walls. If the ceiling/wall is made of a different material, the appropriate screws and wall plugs must be purchased separately.

Curtain rail mounting bracket dimensions:
-width 15 mm*
-length 40 mm*
*Dimensions may vary depending on the profile!

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at info@rulo.ee!
2.2 Mounting type – Wall mount
Wall mount:
-straight

Wall mount lengths:
U and VS profile:
- 50–150 mm – fits one rail row
- 200–250 mm – fits two rail rows
28 mm round profile:
- 100 mm – fits one track row
- 150-200 mm – fits two track rows
600 ja 630-C profile:
- 100 mm – fits one rail row
- 150 mm – fits two rail rows
NB! If you wish to order two rows of curtain rails on a single wall bracket, select the wall bracket length for the first rail, and choose “do not want” for the second rail. This way, you can install two rails on one wall bracket.

The wall mount components match the color of the curtain rail.
The curtain rail set (based on the total rail length) includes wall mounts with screws and wall plugs, as well as curtain hooks (15 pcs per meter).
NB! The screws and wall plugs included in the set are intended for installation into concrete ceilings/walls. If the ceiling/wall is made of a different material, appropriate screws and wall plugs must be purchased separately.

2.3 Curvature
For ceiling-mounted curtain rails, it is possible to order end curvatures. You can choose to have the curvature on one end or on both ends.
Curvature is not available for wall-mounted curtain rails.
The curvature is directed towards the wall.

We do not offer curved curtain rail solutions for corner windows
Curvature can be selected for the following profiles: U profile, VS profile
Curvature cannot be applied to the 28 mm round profile, 600 profile, or 630-C profile
The available curvature lengths range from 100–250 mm, which also corresponds to the distance from the wall
Example: If the total curtain rail length is 2000 mm and there are two curvatures of 100 mm each, the curvature lengths are included in the total rail length.
Illustrative diagram:

NB! The end of the curve is not always cut perfectly straight relative to the wall because the bending machine’s work radius is 15 cm. For bends smaller than 15 cm, the final result may look like the photo. We can cut the end of the rail straight relative to the wall, but in that case, the end cap will no longer fit. This is mainly a cosmetic issue that the curtain will cover. If you want the rail to sit perfectly straight against the wall, we can make the cut during production, but the cost will be borne by the buyer.

Two rows of curtain rails in front of a single window, with curved ends on one rail:
The outer rail for side curtains has curved ends, while the inner rail for a sheer curtain is straight.
Calculating total rail lengths:
-If the outer rail has one curved end, the inner straight rail is 5 cm shorter than the curved outer rail.
-If the outer rail has two curved ends, the inner straight rail is 10 cm shorter than the curved outer rail.

2.4 Profiles
In our product range, we offer curtain rails with 5 different profiles:
–U profile: 15 mm wide x 10 mm high
–VS profile: 20 mm wide x 14 mm high
–28 mm round profile: 28 mm diameter
–630-C profile: 17 mm wide x 40 mm high
–600 profile: 16 mm wide x 40 mm high
Available color options:
-U profile: white, aluminum, matte gold, antique gold, black

-VS profile: white, silver, matte gold, black

-28 mm round profile: white, matte silver, champagne, antique gold, black

-630-C profile: matte silver, champagne, antique gold, black

-600 profile: matte silver, champagne, antique gold, black

Difference between profiles 630-C and 600:
The front side of profile 630-C is curved, but profile 600 is square on all sides.

Fabric hooks (15 pcs per meter):
-white
-black

3. Production features
You can choose the desired length of the curtain rail yourself, based on our maximum length (6000 mm).
For lengths over 3001 mm, we divide the rail into two equal parts. A rail connector is included in the set.
When moving the curtain, it may still catch slightly at the connector, but the curtain can be drawn across it. The smoothness of movement also depends somewhat on the installation. We cut the rail exactly in the middle so that the joint will interfere with movement as little as possible.
In the online store, you must enter the total length. For example, if you select a length of 3000 mm and a quantity of 2 pcs, then the connector is not included, because in that case we treat them as two separate products.

NB! If you have also ordered installation, then rails delivered in two parts will be counted as two separate products during installation.
Installation:
If you wish to install the curtain rail only within the window opening, you can decide how much wider than the opening you want the curtain to be and add the desired overlap.
If you want the curtain rail to be installed wall-to-wall, you should measure from wall to wall and subtract about 1 cm from the total width to ensure the rail will fit properly. Walls are not always perfectly straight everywhere.
Number of brackets according to rail length:

For both ceiling and wall brackets, the same rule applies: approximately one bracket per 70 cm.
The recommended spacing between brackets is around 70 cm, but it ultimately depends on the total length of the rail ordered and the specifics of each installation. We recommend dividing the number of brackets included with the rail by the total track length before installation.

3. Production features
Assessing the suitability of the insect screen for a window:
Unfortunately, the removable insect screen with a metal frame in our product range does not fit every window.
Make sure it is suitable:

If you’re unsure whether a removable insect screen fits your window, please send photos of your window to info@rulo.ee.
We need the following views:

It is important that the window opens inward, as the insect screen frame will extend slightly over the outside of the window frame.
There must not be any raised edges on the outside of the window, such as metal trims for directing rainwater, as the screen will not have enough support, causing it to sag and gaps to form, allowing insects to enter.
For windows like these, unfortunately a removable insect screen is not suitable:

A removable insect screen can be easily installed on such windows:

For a window insect screen, you need to measure the width and height of the open window frame:

Assessing the suitability of the door insect screen for your door:
Hinged door screens can generally be installed on almost all terrace and balcony doors that open inward, as the screen must be mounted on the outside of the frame.
It is important that the outer door frame has enough space at the edges for the screen frame; there must be no raised elements (e.g., handles or locks on the outside) that could push the screen away from the door.
Measure the edges carefully: on the hinge side, there must be at least 4.5 cm (45 mm) of space on the outside of the frame for mounting the screen’s spring hinges. On the other edges, a minimum of 3 cm (30 mm) is required for the screen frame to fit.
NB! The hinge side must be determined from the outside.
For the door screen, measure the width and height of the open doorway, including the edges.

To ensure the door screen holds firmly against the door frame, a magnet is mounted on the screen frame. Only the corresponding magnet needs to be installed on the door frame where the screen will be mounted.

Before ordering, make sure the screen is suitable for your window or door – if needed, feel free to contact us for advice at info@rulo.ee!
NB! If you remove the insect screen from the window or door for the winter, it should be stored on a flat surface to prevent it from bending.
NB! The insect screen net is not pet-proof!
